Purdue Research Foundation partners with Roadrunner to transform Boilermaker deep tech into startups

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue Research Foundation (PRF) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Albuquerque-based Roadrunner Venture Studios (https://roadrunnerventurestudios.com/) to strengthen their collaboration in moving brilliant ideas to market. Under the agreement, Purdue will supply cutting-edge, deep-tech innovation while Roadrunner will focus on converting Purdue-developed technologies from concept to company.
Roadrunner Venture Studios transforms deep tech into new companies in America, for America. They build companies in the quantum science, space tech, energy, advanced manufacturing and clean tech verticals, all areas in which Boilermakers consistently demonstrate excellence at scale.
“Roadrunner has worked closely with Purdue and its world-renowned scientists and engineers for months now — analyzing ideas, exchanging feedback, and working towards new, breakthrough companies built around deep tech,” said Adam Hammer, CEO and co-founder of Roadrunner Venture Studios. “Now that our relationship is official, it will only deepen and broaden. Top-rate universities like Purdue are the lifeblood of our company creation factory and are critical to American competitiveness.”
The MOU aligns with Purdue’s goal to accelerate licensing opportunities and move Boilermaker innovations from lab to life. At the forefront of connecting Purdue IP to industry partners, the Purdue Innovates Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) (https://purdueinnovates.org/otc/) has 1,000+ new Purdue-developed technologies available for licensing.
Through the formalized partnership, PRF — through Purdue Innovates — will provide connections to Purdue inventors, founders, and startups, while Roadrunner will provide studio services and incubation funding.
“We are thrilled to announce a formal relationship with Roadrunner,” said Jacob Brejcha, licensing associate in the Purdue Innovates OTC. “This is one more way our team is engaged with the people who can turn Boilermaker IP into novel solutions to real-world problems. If you are a part of the Purdue research community interested in a deep tech startup, we are here to help you succeed and multiply your research impact.”
